Yachio City Delegation Returning to Tyler

A delegation from our sister city in Japan is planning to return to Tyler this fall. Stay tuned for more details!
 

Membership in the Tyler Sister Cities program is open to interested persons who seek to encourage international citizen diplomacy through informal community exchanges, educational, cultural and economic partnerships.   Yearly dues range from $25 for individuals; $50 for family; $100 at patron level; and corporate support from $250 through $1,000.  Membership forms are available at bbower@tyler.net.

March 21,2007 - Largest Sister Cities delegation ever hosted by Tyler Sister Cities, Inc., will arrive on March 25 from Yachiyo City, Japan.  Click here for complete information

During the past year, the Korean city of Asan has expressed interest in a Sister Cities partnership with Tyler.   Mayor Kang Hee Bok and members of Asan’s education, industry and city government were hosted by Tyler Sister Cities members in October  2005.  An invitation for Tyler Sister Cities members to travel to Korea in early Spring was extended.  Prior arrangements, however, for the 88-member Yachiyo group in Tyler in March prevented Tyler members from accepting the return visit. more . . .

Sept. 2006 - Eight representatives travelled to Jelenia Gora, Poland on September 22 in a focus on educational opportunities for cooperation between the two communities.

Invited by the President of the Collegium of Jelenia Gora to attend a faculty convocation and to visit sites of interest in the city, the Tyler delegation included the President of  The University of Texas at Tyler,  Dr. Rod Mabry and Mrs. Merle Mabry; Academic Provost of The University of Texas at Tyler Dr. Richard Osburn and Mrs. Elaine Osburn; City of Tyler Librarian Chris Albertson, President of Tyler Sister Cities Mrs. Betty Bower and Louis Bower, and Mrs. Elaine Andrews Smith Gage.  more . . .
